Monty Python is a British comedy troupe made famous by their BBC television program Monty Python and the Flying Circus that ran from 1969 to 1974. Monty Python is composed of members Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, John Cleese, and Michael Palin. Even after the end of The Flying Circus’ run, Monty Python continued to be active in other forms of mass media, in feature films, theatre stage, published books, and album recordings. Monty Python had a number of albums released from 1970 to 2005. The following are these Monty Python albums: Monty Python's Flying Circus (1970), Another Monty Python Record (1971), Monty Python's Previous Record (1972), The Monty Python Matching Tie and Handkerchief (1973), Monty Python Live at Drury Lane (1974), The Album of the Soundtrack of the Trailer of the Film of Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Monty Python Live at City Center (1976), The Monty Python Instant Record Collection (1977), Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979), Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album (1980), Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983), The Final Rip Off (1988), Monty Python Sings (1989), The Monty Python Instant Record Collection, Volume 2 (1991), The Ultimate Monty Python Rip Off (1994), The Instant Monty Python CD Collection (1994), Spamalot (Broadway version of Monty Python and the Holy Grail with Tim Curry as King Arthur) (2005), and the unreleased The Hastily Cobbled Together for a Fast Buck Album.
Most of Monty Python’s albums such as Monty Python's Flying Circus, released in 1970, Another Monty Python Record, released in 1971, Monty Python's Previous Record released in 1972, and The Monty Python Matching Tie and Handkerchief, released in 1973, contain mostly recordings from their hit BBC show Monty Python’s The Flying Circus, although the latter albums also feature some new material. Monty Python Live at Drury Lane was recorded at the Drury Lane studios and was released in 1974.
The Album of the Soundtrack of the Trailer of the Film of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, released in 1975, is recording of some scenes from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail as well as some new materials. Another album, The Life of Brian, is a similar album. Spamalot is a recording of the Broadway play adapted from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album is a mixture of songs and sketches. The remaining albums: The Monty Python Instant Record Collection, released in 1977, The Final Rip Off, released in 1988, The Monty Python Instant Record Collection, Volume 2 released in 1991, The Ultimate Monty Python Rip Off released in 1994, and The Instant Monty Python CD Collection also released in 1994; are compilations of Monty Python materials from their shows and projects.
Monty Python albums are great for reliving the crazy comedy of Monty Python.
