  • Report from TFF2015 Monty Python Press Conference - Part 2

"Spam is still funny, but only if you eat it," Eric Idle said to a packed house of New York City's press at the SVA Theater here.

The Pythons were all together, with Tribeca Film Festival moderator Art Lindsey, remembering their storied career and classic sketches, the recent London O2 reunion shows, and the 40th anniversary of the Holy Grail.

"I'm not sure why, but the U.S. fell in love with us," Michael Palin reflected. "Holy Grail, especially, struck a chord. It was light. We were young and committed to what we were doing. It has a great feeling about it and I think that translated."

The troupe also joked about how the Daily Mail constantly puts them at odds when in fact they enjoy seeing each other and telling war stories.

"We've known each other for 50 years and so it's a joy to see each other these days," Palin said.

    As for a U.S. reunion?

"I say we tour without the other three," John Cleese teased Eric Idle.

    "Let's do it!" Idle replied.

And with that Terry J and Michael Palin headed off to lunch, Terry G left for a documentary interview, John Cleese went to meet his daughter and Eric Idle to meet his wife.

Tonight, the main event: "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" plus a Q&A with moderator John Oliver at the Beacon Theater.
